At ETHOS, we believe the best way to learn English is to use it. Our American founders have lived in the Philippines for almost 50 years. They raised their American children there and currently have 13 grandchildren. During their stay, they have struggled with the differences between Filipino and American versions of English. In fact, they had such a difficult time with those differences that they took their kids out of local schools and homeschooled them, just so that they could teach their kids American English.

How Is American English Different from Filipino English?

Very good question! While Filipinos are wonderful and gracious people, and Filipino English is okay for communicating in English inside the Philippines, Filipino English is in fact a second-language form of English and very different from standard English. This is because English is in fact a “second-language” for Filipinos.

When learning any language, it is ALWAYS best to have teachers who are native-speakers. Any native-speaker that has graduated from high school has all the language training they need to help you become fluent in their language!

Therefore, studying at ETHOS puts you in our small American community where you will be immersed in American English and culture! We are not the cheapest school option, but we are cheaper than going to the US, Canada, UK, or Australia. Come and become part of our family!
