Need Help Preparing For An English Test?

People all over the world see English as a pathway to a brighter future. Opportunities to travel, study, and work in English-speaking countries are open to those with strong English skills. Most countries require foreign applicants to pass a major English test (TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, etc.). Achieving the required score is the challenge!

Many schools in the Philippines offer “test prep” that mostly follows a guidebook and drills practice questions. That can look like progress, but simply studying about the test won’t guarantee a pass. ... What Can ETHOS Do To Help Me?

The best way to secure your future is a program that improves your English and prepares you for your target test. In the Philippines, you can train at a Filipino-taught school or at one with native speakers.

We keep our materials aligned with the most up-to-date test information. ... After your initial assessment on arrival, we start targeted training and track your progress in all skills. You’ll receive a daily feedback email for each class. We provide printed training materials, in-class work with an American teacher, daily in-class and homework assignments, and occasional practice tests. The Training Program

Our program runs 5 hours per day and includes American Pronunciation, Conversation, Grammar, Reading, and a combined Speaking/Writing class. We offer the GROUP CLASS option only. The day starts at 9:00 AM; each class is 55 minutes with a 5-minute break between classes, plus a 1-hour lunch at noon. Classes are Monday–Friday. We do not hold classes on Philippine Regular Holidays. (See the holiday list HERE .)

What About Housing?

We can provide ETHOS housing or help you find outside housing. We recommend ETHOS housing—it’s close to the school and usually more affordable. You can, of course, stay anywhere in the city, but the farther you are, the harder it is to arrive by 9:00 AM. ... We can’t delay the start or extend class time because teachers also teach other programs, all built around 55-minute blocks. If you live off-site, it’s your responsibility to arrive on time. How Much Will It Cost?

Training cost depends on how long you’ll attend and your housing choice.

So... What About MEALS?

We have a meal program available for our students. Charges for the meal plans are not included in our study package quotation. The meal program is an add-on that students will choose once they arrive at ETHOS. Here are the options and the costs per week for each one:

• One meal per day costs 1,500.00 Pesos per week. (This includes 5 meals)
• Two meals per day costs 3,000.00 Pesos per week. (This includes 10 meals)
• Three meals per day costs 4,500.00 Pesos per week. (This includes 15 meals)

We will cook food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

• Breakfast is available between 8:00 and 8:30 AM.
• Lunch will be served at NOON.
• Dinner will be served between 5:30 and 6:00 PM.

Arrangements will be done on a week-by-week basis while students are with us. They will pay for their desired meal plan on Friday for their meals during the following week. Our different meal plan options are only available on weekdays (Monday through Friday). Meals on weekends and school holidays during the week are NOT included. There are also a number of restaurants located within walking distance of the school. There is both a McDonald's and a Jolibee just one block from the school. There are also several local native Filipino restaurants near the school where students often eat their meals. Also, we are just 5 minutes away from the SM SEASIDE shopping mall, which has many different restaurants. (We keep a current list of restaurants and locations at school.)

In addition, we have a number of food delivery services (GRAB and Food Panda) available in the city, which can deliver food from almost any restaurant in the city! So, food will not be a problem.

A Final Consideration…

Preparing for your test is preparing for your future. Why train with non-native teachers who may be great people but might not perform at the level you need to reach? Training with American native speakers simply makes sense. We aren’t the cheapest—but with your future on the line, is a lower-quality option worth the risk?
