An American school with native speakers located in Cebu City, Philippines
WE OFFER AFFORDABLE BABYSITTING:
ETHOS offers a babysitting service for parents who wish to do shopping after school.
This program is only available to parents who are enrolled and staying in ETHOS housing.
(Parents staying in outside housing will need to arrange babysitting with the establishment providing their housing.)
Here Are The Details Of The Program:
ETHOS will accept up to four (4) children from one family for babysitting.
These must be below the age of thirteen (13) years old.
Teenage children should accompany their parents.
Parents who wish to include their teenaged children will need to ask for a separate arrangement.
Parents must request after-school babysitting at least two (2) days prior to the desired shopping date and parents may not skip class in order to go shopping.
ETHOS will provide after-school babysitting only on school days during office hours.
There is no babysitting available on weekends or school holidays.
This means a maximum of up to four (4) hours of shopping in one day for those in the 4-hour study program, or a maximum of three (3) hours shopping for those in the 5-hour study program.
Parents must claim their children by the end of the babysitting time.
ETHOS will allow a late grace period of 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, ETHOS will charge 500.00 Pesos per hour, per child until the child/children are picked up by the parent.
Therefore, parents must consider the travel time to their shopping destination and plan their travel accordingly.
Parents who are going to be late must contact ETHOS.
Parents who are late two (2) times will no longer be eligible for ETHOS babysitting.
Here are some additional important details:
Each parent pays for their children.
We do not allow combining several families' kids into a group.
Each parent must provide all necessary personal items.
Parents must provide diapers, snacks, and anything else their child might need.
There are no snacks included in the babysitting fee.
Parents must choose in advance the duration they want for babysitting, in increments of 1 hour.
We offer a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 4 hours.
Parents must factor in the travel time back to ETHOS.
Parents will be allowed a 15-minute late grace period.
Parents will pay any late fee upon arrival from shopping.
Parents are responsible for any property damage to ETHOS caused by their children.
ETHOS will provide a staff watcher for each babysitting session.
Parents understand that these watchers are not professional babysitters but work for ETHOS.
Parents must agree to place their children into the care of ETHOS and trust ETHOS to make certain a dependable person is placed in charge of their children.
Parents will explain to their children about the babysitting, and ensure that their children understand that they must obey the watcher and all ETHOS rules.
After three (3) documented violation-incidents, ETHOS will no longer babysit for the parent.
ETHOS is not responsible for injury or illness of a child who refuses to comply with the rules.
Should there be any problem, ETHOS will investigate and determine fault in such cases, and parents agree to accept ETHOS’ ruling.
ETHOS has CCTV cameras for recordings in all babysitting rooms.
Parents will provide contact information so that ETHOS may reach them in case of an emergency, or in case their child will not comply and creates a problem for the watcher or other children.
In such cases, parents agree to end their outside activity and return immediately to ETHOS to collect their children.
How Much Does It Cost?
The chart below shows the cost (in Pesos) for the number of hours based upon the number of children being watched. Parents
will pay for the service before they leave on the day they wish to go shopping.
These rates are paid in Philippine Pesos and will be paid in advance.

“It was so much fun and I’m glad I chose Ethos. My pronunciation has
greatly improved and I made a lot of Filipino friends. With the study abroad plan I can
work in a hotel in Australia and I think it is fascinating. I had fun when I went out to
eat BBQ with the teachers and students and it tastes good. I enjoyed talking about various
things. I got to eat chocolate cake when there is a celebration or everyone’s birthday. I
was very happy when I passed the interview for working holiday and we celebrated.” - M
Shimakawa (Japan - studying English)
“I used Google maps and analyzed all English schools in Cebu. ETHOS
had English native speakers, English culture and traditions, perfect studying conditions,
American pronunciation, safe area, two big malls nearby, common meetings. I am totally
satisfied. Pronunciation and reading lessons were more than I expected. I improved my
writing. The Bible elective classes were high level and I regret that I didn’t attend
them more often. I stayed in the dorm and it was the best one that I have ever stayed
at. Modern, clean, and fully packed, comfortable two floor house with any item you might
need just a minute from the school. What could be better? Perfect 100%.” - O Davidova
(Russia - studying English)
“I enjoyed talking with my teachers’ every day and went on a trip with
everyone. It’s cheaper than going to America since American teachers can teach you English.
It was so much fun and the day ended too soon!” - R Hashino (Japan - studying English)
“A friend introduced me to ETHOS. I chose this school because it’s all
American. The learning atmosphere at ETHOS is very good. The students are very well taken
care of by ETHOS. I felt good, they took good care of me. I liked the Home Stay feeling
very much.” - J Tsai (Taiwan - studying English)
“When I searched the internet for studying abroad in Cebu, I found a blog
and found out about Ethos. I was able to learn English from native speakers, I had Home Stay
housing in an American teacher’s home. I was able to talk to a native speaker every day, which
really helped me learn a lot. I had an experience I will never forget. I’m really glad I came.
Thank you very much.” - S Endo (Japan - studying English)
“It was really fun to be taught by Americans and being able to Home Stay
in an American home. The teachers and Filipino staff were friendly and the overseas students
who came were all serious and kind, so I felt like we had been together for a long time even
though I only had two weeks.” - Y Sato (Japan - studyng English)
“The teachers really taught me thoroughly so I tried hard and did my best.
I was able to go out to eat a lot with my fellow overseas students. I had a lot of fun with
the American teachers’ kids and I enjoyed spending time with my neighbors.” - S Tamura (Japan
- studying English)
“Actually, I really wanted to go to America but if I didn’t have the money
and could study with Americans in Cebu, I thought it would be okay to go to Cebu without going
to America. It was really fun! I’m really glad I made it to Ethos. I’m very happy that the
teachers treated me as their own family. The daily lessons were very fun that four months
passed by just like that.” - Y Okamura (Japan - studying English)
“I worried about the peace and order of the Philippines. Could I make it
through graduation with my English knowledge? I had Home Stay and I enjoyed every day. It
was a very fun 13 weeks! And I was able to make a lot of good memories with the intern. We
always had fun every day!” - M Fujimoto (Japan - studying English)
