English Camp provides a challenge for housing, because of the size and gender-makup of the group. If space is available, we will arrange housing for the Camp in our housing facilities.
Staying in ETHOS housing makes a lot of sense. Campers are very close to school. Most will only need to walk a couple of minutes to reach the front entrance! This will make it very easy for them to be on time for the start of classes! Staying outside means daily traffic, which might take an hour or more coming to school each day! That will be frustrating and expensive over time, so, it is good to consider staying in ETHOS housing.
We have fully furnished dormitory apartments and spaces in the homes of our American teachers. Campers are given a bedspace in a shared room. Males and females will be housed in different locations. (They should only interact socially in the common areas designated for that purpose.)
We will be happy to help arrange for these and any other needs or services that may be required at no extra charge to the campers.
Providing meals for the Camp will not be a problem. We have an in-house meal program and can provide all Camp meals if this is what is desired. We can provide safe and nutritious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the campers at a reasonable cost. However, because the itinerary for the Camp is bound to include outside activities during meal times, we will have to schedule some meals out. In those situations, campers will have to pay for their own meals out-of-pocket.
Of course, campers may desire to have additional food and snacks outside of scheduled meals. We have a McDonald's and two large supermarkets just one block away from ETHOS. In addition, we are 5 minutes away by taxi from SM SEASIDE, which is the largest shopping mall in Cebu City, and the 9th largest mall in all of Asia! There campers will find different food and desert shops as well as many places to shop and have fun!
We will arrange a plan for ALL meals during the Camp and once we finalize that it will be difficult to change.
ETHOS gets its water supply from the city water system, and that service is not reliable. To solve this problem, each ETHOS housing unit has an outside water storage tank with a limited quantity of water. To make certain that everyone has water for a shower, we ask our campers to accept the following:
Seeing that we will have a group of campers, to avoid any problems with water shortage, we need everyone's cooperation.
To maintain our company's good reputation, we have some very basic common-sense requirements for anyone living in our housing facilities. Please keep in mind that ETHOS is not a resort or a hotel. We supply inexpensive housing that is clean and well maintained to provide a safe and quiet place for our campers to live and study while they are with us. To maintain a good home environment, we ask all campers to agree to the following:
There are a few additional rules that provide fairness and equity for all campers coming to ETHOS. They also are based upon common sense, and we have not had any major difficulties following these in the past decade of operation. We will talk about thse during orientation when the campers arrive. All we ask is that our campers remember that they are guests here in the country and are here to study English and have fun!
